Cultivating passion fruit plants until harvest | NASA Health
Cultivating passion fruit quickly to bear fruit will be successful if you understand the growing conditions. One of the requirements for growing passion fruit is to plant it in soil with a pH range of 6.5-7.5. When planting it, you must meet its water needs.
Seed and Land Preparation
You can get quality passion fruit seeds at your nearest agricultural shop. Using quality seeds will affect future harvest results. Meanwhile, for the land, you have to cultivate the land well before using it to plant passion fruit. After that, you make a planting hole of around 50 cm x 50 cm x 50 cm.
Planting
Next, you enter the passion fruit planting stage. You plant passion fruit plants at a distance of around 2 meters x 5 meters. You can plant 1000 passion fruit plants on 1 hectare of land. After you have finished planting, you then carry out the fertilization stage. Fertilize 3 times a year.
Fertilization
Fertilization is the most dominant factor for the survival of fertile plants. Nutrient reserves in the planting medium must continue to exist, therefore supplementary fertilization needs to be given regularly. This fertilization can be done using organic fertilizer. The organic fertilizer used is Poc Nasa + Hormonic. The dosage is 3 Poc Nasa caps and 1 cap of Hormonic bottle mixed with 15 liters of water then spray evenly on the plants. Can be added by sprinkling Power Nutrition around the plants.
Pest and Disease Control
Control plant pests using Pestona, dissolve 5-10cc per 1 liter of water. Then spray evenly on the plants that are attacked by pests. For maximum results, it should be sprayed as often as possible at least 3x per season.
Harvest
Passion fruit plants grown from seed will begin to bear fruit after around 9-10 months of age. Meanwhile, passion fruit plants that come from cuttings will bear fruit at around 7 months of age. Passion fruit will ripen around 70-80 days after the flowering period. Ripe passion fruit will detach from the stem and eventually fall to the ground. Ripe passion fruit will change color from green to yellow (yellow passion fruit) or purple (purple passion fruit).
